Davis and its residents were early pioneers of the Reuse movement. Many local businesses and non-profit organizations provide creative options for reuse and a chance to donate items to benefit a good cause.
Local Options for Reuse
The following places all accept donations for reuse. For each location, there is a list of what they accept. When donating, items must be in good condition for them to be reused.
- All Thing Right and Relevant - almost anything in quality condition that could be sold in a thrift shop
- Aggie Reuse - almost anything in quality condition that could be sold in a thrift shop
- Armadillo Music - CD players, VHS tapes
- Davis Bike Collective - bikes (broken bikes okay), bike parts, bike tools
- Davis Community Meals - bedding, clothes, food (non-perishable), personal care products (unopened)
- The Davis Enterprise - plastic rain bags & rubberbands from newspaper deliveries
- Davis Senior Center - books (fiction), eyeglasses, hearing aids, magazines (recent)
- DJUSD Secondary Special Ed - cellphones, iPods, laptops, PDAs, printers
- Goodwill - almost anything in quality condition that could be sold in a thrift shop
- Off-Campus Books - books (all types including textbooks)
- Parcel Dispatch PDQ - bubble wrap and packing peanuts
- Postmark's - bubble wrap and packing peanuts
- Pregnancy Support Group of Woodland - baby clothes, diapers & other baby supplies
- Progress Ranch Treatment for Children - bedding, bikes, blanks, books (children and fiction), suitcases, toys, video game machines, wrapping paper
- SPCA Thrift Store - almost anything in quality condition that could be sold in a thrift shop
- Toad Hollow Dog Park - plastic bags that can be used for pet waste.
- Yolo Community Care Continuum - Blankets, glass cups, plates and cookware, utensils
- Yolo County Landfill - has drop-off section for reusable items
- Yolo County Public Library - books, DVDs, magazines (recent)
- Woodland Toy Library - books (childrens), DVDs, toys
- The UPS Store - bubble wrap and packing peanuts
