reuse is the act of using something again, either for its original purpose or repurposed to perform a different function. Reusing an item has several advantages over recycling when it comes to achieving Zero Waste. Reusing avoids the energy and processing costs associated with recycling. In addition, not everything can be recycled. For material that can be recycled, there is often still waste that ends up in the landfills due to imperfections in current techniques.

Davis and its residents were early pioneers of the Reuse movement. Many local businesses and non-profit organizations provide creative options for reuse and a chance to donate items to benefit a good cause.

Local Options for Reuse

The following places all accept donations for reuse. For each location, there is a list of what they accept. When donating, items must be in good condition for them to be reused.
