Greg Perry was the University Minister at Grace Valley Christian Center which has been the subject of considerable controversy. He was active with the campus ministry Grace Alive as well as with the international ministry Global Grace. He spoke at Bryn Ransdell's memorial. He died unexpectedly on April 5th, 2021 after preaching an Easter service the previous day at GVCC. He was 46 years old.
Raised in Sunnyvale, CA, he starred in both football (quarterback) and baseball (third base) during high school. He originally attended UC Davis to play football, but chose to pursue campus ministry instead after becoming a Christian in 1994.
He began teaching English at Davis High School in 2000, where he also coached JV football. Popular at DHS, he was known for his kindness and sense of humor. He left teaching to pursue full-time ministry in 2006. He was known for being very generous with his time, and freely gave it to others.
He was a lifelong A's fan, 49ers fan, and Stanford football fan. He attended the 1989 World Series game that was interrupted by the Loma Prieta Earthquake. He loved history and owned a significant collection of historical documentaries which he shared with friends. He is survived by his wife, 3 children, a brother, and mother.
