Davis Anime Club is a social club at UC Davis focused on anime. It consists of a diverse community that enjoys a wide spectrum of anime, as well as other aspects of nerd culture. We strive to be an open, safe, and welcoming community where members can make new friends and enjoy time with old ones. As a community founded on common interests, DAC believes anime is best enjoyed in a group and endeavors to be a space where very different types of anime fans can feel comfortable and have a good time. We are passionate about anime and believe DAC can enrich members’ college experiences. We want to make sure DAC is always a positive experience for members, with well-run club meetings, carefully planned anime schedules, fun events, varied sub-clubs, and more DAC activities. Together, we hope to create a memorable college experience for members where they can actively participate in activities that relate to their interests and passions.

In past years DAC has held its own convention, DAiCon. Saturday April 27th, 2019, DAiCon reemerges after 6 years, with plans to become a yearly tradition.

Club Information

Regular Meetings

A regular meeting

Regular Davis Anime Club meetings are held nearly every Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 – 10:00pm. The website and Facebook will let you know in advance if we’ll need to switch rooms, so rest assured!

Our Wednesday night meetings feature three continuing anime, with an extended break in between where we hold DACtivities, which are small activities we’ve organized to help you interact with and hopefully get to know other DAC members. DACtivities are entirely optional, so if you would rather just come for the anime, you’re more than welcome to sit them out!

Our Thursday night meetings feature four continuing anime, with a shorter break in between for everyone to socialize! Thursday meetings are also followed by AfterDAC, an optional after-meeting activity, where you can join DAC as we head over to a nearby restaurant or food establishment, providing you with an excellent opportunity to get to know the rest of DAC a little better, or just to grab something to eat with a group of people! AfterDAC doesn’t have a set time it ends at, though people usually head home around midnight.

Events

Davis Anime Club holds events outside of regular club meetings, typically every Saturday, allowing members to partake in various activities that make DAC more than just a simple viewing club. During the spring 2018 quarter, DAC invited Miles Thomas, former DAC president 2011-2013, as a guest speaker to talk about his experience at the club as well as his career in anime at Crunchyroll. DAC has also attended local anime movie screenings including A Silent Voice and Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel - I. Presage Flower in Sacramento.

Sub-Clubs

As a multi-faceted club, DAC’s regular meetings are actually not the only meetings that are held regularly. Members may elect to join any number of sub-clubs, and these sub-clubs also meet regularly to partake in various fun activities that vary by the club!

  • If you have issues getting information from SPAC, I'd suggest a request under the California Public Records Act (the analog to FOIA for state government). I've done it before in regards to Club Finance Council — just send an email to Campus Counsel. —BrentLaabs
  • It's okay, I just asked Andy Grass —Chibi
